03 May 2020
Kweneng District Council chairperson, Mr Tona Selala has hailed Thamaga businessman, Mr Mothusi Soloko for his noble gesture after donating groceries for 100 families to aid them during the extreme social distancing period.
Receiving the donation at Thamaga on May 1, Mr Selala said the donation came at a time when people were negatively affected by the extreme social distancing, which left many without food.
He further praised Mr Soloko for giving back to the community and added that it was a good gesture for the food to be given to social workers for distribution.
Mr Selala said haphazard distribution caused confusion leading to some families benefiting more than once.
He praised Mr Soloko for the food hampers he bought adding that it would augment what government offered, as government alone could not assist everyone without an input from the private sector.
For his part, Mr Soloko who runs different businesses in and outside Thamaga said as a Motswana, he was also playing his role by giving back to the community.
He said he was aware that families had been negatively impacted by the coronavirus crisis and therefore did not have source of income. ENDS
