Jao Flats surrounded by floods

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dipheko Motube has cautioned people living around the Okavango Delta to be vigilant as the delta is flooding.

He noted that the island of Jao Flats was under threat of being submerged. Assistant Commissioner Motube said the floods and marauding animals posed danger to the community .

On another issue, Mr Motube cautioned people to observe COVID-19 regulations, saying 813 people were arrested for selling alcohol, 400 of which were from the North Central Division which comprised Mahalapye, Palapye, Tswapong and Bobirwa.

In Francistown, Officer Commanding No. 15 District, Senior Superintendent Kabo Badirang said they had arrested eight people for selling alcohol and four in Nata for selling traditional brews while two were arrested in Tutume.

Snr Supt Badirang said there were new types of alcohol from neighbouring countries that looked like whisky or brandy that were illegally imported into the country. He added that police officers working with members of the Botswana Defence Force were on guard to nap the crime. ENDS
