Selebi Phikwe releases Contact Tracing update Report
29 Apr 2020
A report from greater Selibe Phikwe District Health Management Team (DHMT) to the deputy district commissioner shows that the team has covered a lot of ground on the ongoing contact tracing exercise in Bobonong and surrounding areas.
The report shows that there are two people who came into contact with a Covid-19 confirmed case, a male and a female.
The duo, who came to Bononong from Gaborone, have been identified and some of their contacts too have been identified.
Since the two have traversed some places in Bobonong, the team has taken steps to trace contacts and test those who have come into contact with them.
The team has collected samples from 81 employees of Choppies Store on April 28. The store will be refumigated and closed until results are released in about three days.
The team will also take samples from employees of Bobonong Post Office on April 29 while the operations of the office will be put on hold until results are out.
Further, employees at fuel stations will be tested for the same.
Furthermore, samples will be collected from employees at the call centre of deputy district commissioner’s office for testing. However, the offices will not be closed since the offices were recently fumigated.
In addition, the DHMT will collect more samples from all Bobonong Cooperatives on April 30. Likewise, operations at the offices in question will be halted until release of results.
The report shows that contact two was identified and samples collected from him and 40 of his contacts upon arrival in Bobonong. The contact had reportedly travelled by bus from Gaborone to Bobonong. According to the DHMT report, mapping will be conducted on April 29 to identify those who used the same bus with the contact. Ends
