Maun Administration Authority (MAA) has assessed over 14 000 people under the COVID-19 food relief basket initiative.

Senior assistant council secretary - administration, Ms Mogomotsi Seemule said over 7 000 people were likely to benefit from the exercise, adding that so far over 4 500 people had benefitted.

She was optimistic that by the end of May, they would have completed the exercise.

However, she noted that they had experienced delays due to challenges faced by suppliers regarding the unavailability of some products.

Regarding the refurbishment of schools, Ms Seemule said 602 cubicles of existing toilets would be maintained.

She also noted that the project entailed desludging of 21 pit latrines, the installation of 113 wash points in 40 schools, construction of 35 blocks of toilets with nine cubicles each and provision of dustbins.

She added that estimated costs were over P39 million. ENDS
