Support contact tracing
28 Apr 2020
Government appeals to members of the public to support the ongoing contact tracing, which intends to identify persons who have had contact with people who tested positive of the coronavirus.
A press release from the Presidential COVID –19 Task Force states that the main aim of the exercise is to further prevent the transmission of the coronavirus by ensuring that the contacts are tested for the virus and given timely help.
The release further states that once a person tests positive, his/her contacts are identified and an enquiry is made around the person’s activities since the onset of the infection.
“These contacts could be family members, friends or work colleagues and other people who might have occupied the same space as him/her at some point.”
“Therefore, it is important for those that test positive to be honest about their contacts to the contact tracing officers so that their contacts could be provided with early identification, care and support,” the release says.
The Presidential COVID – 19 Task Force further appeals to all Batswana not to stigmatise and discriminate against those who are infected and affected with coronavirus, which could lead to psycho-social challenges. “Let us all show compassion as families and a nation.” ENDS
