Molepolole Administration Authority is racing against time to phase out pit latrines in all 40 primary schools in the sub-district and replace them with water system toilets.
In an interview, the sub-district chief technical officer, Mr Isaac Natshane explained that the sub-district envisioned to spend about P10.2 million to maintain toilets, construct new ones as well as water reticulation in all 40 primary schools.
He further indicated that new toilet blocks, 16 in number, would be constructed in 13 schools while maintenance would be done in the remaining schools.
At the moment, he said water tanks had already been erected in all schools and construction companies were set to reticulate water in schools, adding the project was planned to be completed at the end of July.
Among other things, washbasins and soap dispensers would be provided in all schools to enhance hygiene practices to fight the coronavirus once schools open.
Parvel Investment Company, a local company that has won a tender to reticulate water at Bonewamang Primary school is already on site.
The site foreman, Mr Pendu Chimbombi said his company started work five days ago.
So far, he said work progress was satisfactory and they would complete work in two weeks. Ends
