Debswana mining company has donated 400 food hampers to Boteti East and West residents.
The General Manager of Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM) Mr Bakani Motlhabani stated that the food hampers, worth P760 000, would be distributed at Metsiaela, Phase one and Sekwe wards in Boteti east whilst Boteti west hampers would be distributed in Kedia and Xere.
He said the expectation was that the donation would make a significant impact in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Motlhabani noted that the pandemic required enhanced hygiene and it was therefore critical to have access to clean water, hence they partnered with Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) to ensure water supply where there would be shortage.
He indicated that Debswana water valves had been opened to supply water in Letlhakane village and water tanks would be procured to supply water in Letlhakane, Kedia and Xere, adding Mokobaxane village was already supplied through bowsing.
Debswana had earlier on donated P410 000 for personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitisers particularly for health care workers.
Letlhakane North Councillor, Ms Ntebogang Kgosi appreciated Mr Motlhabani’s leadership for the immense contribution towards uplifting the livelihoods of Boteti residents. Ends
