A Satau family of ten whose four mud huts were gutted by fire has received donations of blankets, food, toiletries, mattresses, hand clothes and other necessities from the district commissioner’s office in Kasane.
The Ntema family, which includes eight children, lost all their possessions in the fire that was believed to have been started by a child.
The office of the district commissioner visited the family on Saturday to deliver the donation.
Following the incident, Kasane Red Cross Society assisted the family with a tent and an appeal has been launched to help get them back on their feet.
Chobe district commissioner, Ms Sekgabo Makgosa said it was disheartening that the family was going through such hardships when the country was battling the deadly coronavirus which was heavily consuming so much from government coffers.
Ms Makgosa appealed to other business owners to lend a helping hand.
Ms Rumbe Ntema said her children’s uniforms and books were burnt along with their other possessions.
She thanked all those who came to their rescue.
Chobe District Council through the Office of Social and Community Development in Kavimba also assisted with food and other necessities. Ends
