Former Member of Parliament for Ngwaketse South constituency, Kebadire Kalake has passed on, aged 72.
The family spokesperson Mr Wilson Kalake told BOPA in an interview that Kalake died at his home in Kanye on April 24 after a long illness.
Kalake, who was Botswana National Front MP, joined Parliament in 1996 through a bye election, replacing Geoffrey Mosimakoko who had died halfway through his term.
He would later contest for the 1999 general elections and won.
He served until 2004 when he lost to former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Peter Siele.
Before joining politics, Kalake had worked for Southern Rural Development Association in Kanye and Botswana Telecommunications Corporation.
He was a farmer of note at Molehisi/Bakwenyana farms.
He leaves behind his wife, six children and eight grandchildren and will be laid to rest in Kanye tentatively on Tuesday. Ends
