Permit issuance moves to primary schools in Bobirwa
24 Apr 2020
Bobirwa District Emergency Operation Centre has started rolling out application and issuance of travelling permits within localities at primary schools in Bobonong and Mmadinare on April 23.
The move was intended to, among other things, ensure that applicants did not travel long distances to seek permits, thus running the risk of being arrested or charged for traveling without a permit, deputy district commissioner, Ms Angelinah Leano stated.
She explained thatissuing permits at various schools would bind people to buy at their localities and ease off congestion at the mall.
Ms Leano stated that the committee would issue 350 rationed permits per day in Bobonong.
Each of the seven schools in Bobonong issues 50 permits, 30 of which would be restricted to shopping in the locality where the applicant resided while 20 would be for those seeking to buy at the mall.
Out of the 50 permits, 25 would issued in the morning and the other half in the afternoon, a move that Bobonong police station commander Superintendent Paul Seoko applauded.
He said limiting the number of permits to 350 per day was in consideration that there were other people coming in from other villages to buy essential items at the same shopping complexes.
Supt Seoko said permits in question would be restricted for shopping, therefore those going to the lands and cattleposts should apply at departments of crop production and at veterinary services.
Superintendent Seoko reminded those with pressing reasons to travel outside Bobonong to seek permits at the deputy district commissioner’s office. He however, reminded applicants that movement between villages and towns was prohibited. Ends
