Good Hope Sub-district Council chairperson has applauded Lactalis Botswana, formerly known as Parmalat, for donating yorgurt worth P497 000 to Lobatse, Good Hope/Mabule and Mmathethe/Molapowabojang constituencies.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Boniface Leshomo, said the gesture epitomised what the nation could achieve when the private sector and capable Batswana partnered with government in the fight against the corona virus and other social ills.
Mr Leshomo explained that yogurt offered residents many health benefits such as stimulating the immune system, which he described as a critical aspect that could help them navigate the corona virus pandemic.
The chairperson said abject poverty was still rife in the Good Hope Sub-district and thanked the company for picking the area for the donation.
He advised residents to observe extreme social distancing guidelines and stay at home. He was worried that for many, it was just business as usual, which could undermine efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
Mr Jerry Mooketsane, brand and marketing specialist explained that the donation was part of Lactalis ’corporate social responsibility. He said the donation was intended for frontline workers who were always on the move, as a way of appreciation for dedicating their lives to serving others with a view to keep them going.
He said the products would be further channeled towards needy families across the area. He explained that yogurt not only tasted amazing but was easy to digest, provided instant energy and boosted the immune system.
Receiving the donation Mr Rodrick Mogotsi said the donation would come in handy for busy frontline workers who have no time to cook between tight schedules. He said they would further give to councilors to spread the generous gesture between needy families and the sick at ward level.
He said the donation was consistent with Dr Edwin Dikoloti’s vision for residents of Mmathethe/Molapowabojang. He said Dr Dikoloti was noted for assisting needy families in the area. ENDS
