23 Apr 2020
Tutume sub-district council has started distribution of COVID-19 food relief packages across many of the sub-disctrict’s 29 villages.
The deputy District Commissioner Ms Utlwanang Kerekang said they had collected food from schools and had started handing out food parcels to families in need.
Ms Kerekang further noted that they had also received a consignment from COVID-19 center in Gaborone, which they would also distribute to communities.
She also noted that the business community in the district had brought their contributions towards helping Batswana during this period.
In addition, she pointed out that although they had started food distribution, registration and assessment of people, which started April 10 was ongoing.
She said they had deployed social workers to almost all villages to speed up registration and food distribution.
Ms Kerekang emphasized that they were working hard to speed up distribution because some families needed urgent relief. Ends
