22 Apr 2020

The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Lemogang Kwape has expressed appreciation and gratitude to all health care workers for their dedicated and relentless pursuit of excellence in the delivery of health care services in Botswana.

In a press release Dr Kwape, made a special appreciation to all the personnel leading and supporting in one way or the other, the fight against the COVID-19 scourge, from the strong network of clinicians and other frontline staff, drivers of behavior change, support staff and volunteers.

The release says the ministry accomplishments thus far, as a result of the health care workers’ great service often under unbelievably challenging conditions and through exhaustion, are a true reflection of their hard work, talents, commitment, and enthusiasm, which continue to give hope to the multitudes of citizens who are currently staying home.

He notes that they truly live the ‘Human Face’ creed and acknowledges all the staff that are under quarantine due to the nature of their work for their dedication, goodwill, and the will to serve.

The minister says he can not appreciate them enough for selflessly stepping up to the platform when required to do so and invariably going above and beyond the call of duty in the face of the pandemic.

It further states that the ministry stands with them and will offer any psycho-social support required to see through their ordeal.

Dr Kwape wishes them well in the fight, saying it is undoubtedly one of the most daunting challenges the entire globe has faced.

He encourages them to keep on preventing the virus from spreading, keep safe and protect themselves from infection, adding that the terrain is tough and at times they feel defeated, but should hold on tight for it would pass. ENDS
