Francistown City Council provides sanitary facilities

Francistown City Council (FCC) has in the wake of extreme social distancing period risen to the occasion by providing sanitary facilities to twenty primary schools.
Town Clerk, Mr Lopang Pule stated during a media briefing that the exercise was part of the various interventions by the city in response to COVID-19.
The maintenance primary school toilets commenced on April 07 and to expedite the maintenance works, four in-house teams have been deployed to do the repairs.
In addition, Mr Pule stated that four contractors had been contracted to install 12 double wash troughs in 12 schools, including carrying out associated plumbing and drainage works.
“The remaining eight schools will also get double troughs and the associated plumbing and drainage works through eight contracted Artisans,’ he said.
Furthermore, the town clerk noted the council was also fixing malfunctioning electrical components of primary school toilets, an exercise he said began on April 7.
So far electrification of 10 out of the 20 such school facilities has been completed by an in-house team.
Procurement of COVID-19 related cleaning materials and cleaning equipment as well as extra cleaners for all facilities belonging to the FCC such as primary schools is an ongoing exercise albeit slowly due to logistical problems on the part of suppliers who procure raw materials from South Africa.
Each Primary school within the city of Francistown will also be issued with six new disposal bins. So far 53 waste bins have been supplied to the council. ENDS
