Doctor refutes allegations of unfriendly service

Dr Amos Mukadi of Kasane Primary Hospital has refuted allegations concerning poor telephonic etiquette displayed by one of their COVID-19 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) line operators.
In an interview on April 18, Dr Mukadi said the hospital had received complaints from the general public concerning an unfriendly female telephone operator and said their preliminary inquiries revealed that the person was not from Kasane call centre.
He noted that if a call centre call remained engaged or unanswered, it automatically diverts to other call centres in the country.
Dr Mukadi cited that some of the complaints included the operator mentioning unavailability of the EMS ambulance while the hospital ambulance was always available.
He further indicated that the Kasane EMS ambulance was always ready to attend to patients and records indicated that it was never requested by any person for emergencies on the dates in question.
“The person in question was likely from one of the call centres. Our operators are upbeat and even when overwhelmed, they promise to call back and certainly fulfill their promises,” he added.
On other issues, Dr Mukadi said presently there were 15 people remaining in quarantine, who all tested negative and yet to be discharged as per completion of a 14-day mandatory quarantine regulations.
Three will be discharged on April 20 while the remaining 11 will be discharged on different dates to follow. ENDS
