Ministry suspends issuance renewal of Omang

Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs informs the public that the service for the issuance and renewal of the National Identity Cards (Omang) is on suspension during the extreme social distancing period to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release from the ministry’s permanent secretary, Mr Molefi Keaja, the ministry states that as a result of the suspended service, all national identity cards, which expire during the extreme social distancing period, will only be renewed when the service resumes.
It further reveals that during extreme social distancing, expired national identity cards are to be used for identification to enable Batswana to continue to enjoy the services offered by different service providers without hindrance. ENDS
