Council chair hails business community

Moshupa Sub-district council chairperson, Mr Peter Sethibe has hailed the business community for their philanthropic work during trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking during the hand over ceremony of food hampers to Moshupa authorities recently, he said donating for a good cause would never go unnoticed.
Mr Sethibe applauded Choice Guest House for donating food hampers worth over P9 000 for 20 families.
The donation comprises of 10kg (mabele), 12.5kg (flour), 5kg (brown sugar), 750ml (Tomato sauce), five packets of soup, 750ml (sunlight dishwashing liquid), 500g (sunlight bar soap) and 2litres (cooking oil), among others.
He said the hospitality industry across the country had allowed government to use their facilities as isolation or quarantine centres, adding that Choice Guest House was one of them.
He also expressed gratitude to Moshupa Shell Filling Station and Moshupa Trading Store, which donated beverages and snacks worth over P8 000 to Moshupa District Health Management Team (DHMT) and Botswana Police Service in Moshupa as well as to other frontline officials in the sub-district.
Mr Sethibe said Moshupa Trading Store in partnership with Moshupa Shell Filling Station had recently contributed P5 000 into COVID-19 Relief Fund.
He thanked donors for their benevolence, saying the donations would help cushion Batswana against the impact of COVID-19.
On other issues, Mr Sethibe said they had dispatched a team of social workers to assess families on how best they could be assisted.
He said the assessment process did not start on time as was expected because they were still awaiting personal protective equipment.
For her part, Choice Guest House manager, Ms Kebareng Gaadingwe said they gave back to the community, because it was through the populace that their businesses thrived adding that it was therefore imperative that they help others during trying times.
Moshupa Trading Store executive, Mr Mahomed Hussan encouraged people to stay at home.
Moshupa Shell Filling Station representative, Mr Karabo Kgosimore said he hoped their contribution would help mitigate the hardships of COVID-19. ENDS
