The Botswana Red Cross Society office in Kasane, with the support of Kubu Lodge, has donated food hampers to aid 10 elderly people in Kazungula during the COVID-19 extreme social distancing period.

Handing over the donation to recipients in Kazungula on April 17, the organisation chairperson, Mr Sangwana Sangwana said the society saw it fit to donate to the elderly because they were unable to go to the shops to buy whatever they needed during the extreme social distancing period.

Mr Sangwana said the 10 beneficiaries were identified through Kasane Social and Community Development office and appealed to other companies to follow suit and donate during the trying period.

Mr Sangwana thanked Ms Sharon Nel, owner and general manager of Kubu Lodge for the donation.

The food hampers included mealie meal, sugar, tea, samp, toiletries, cooking oil, rice, vegetables, milk, rice, washing powder, soap and masks. ENDS
