Official inspects road project
17 Apr 2020
Heritage Contractors, a company engaged to construct culverts and re-gravel the Kachikau/Satau/Parakarungu road, has been given permission to continue with the project.
The road project supervisor, Mr Richard Charlie told Chobe District commissioner, Ms Sekgabo Makgosa that the Ministry of Transport and Communications granted the permission.
He told the district commissioner that although the project was moving smoothly, the flowing of the Chobe River might delay the completion of the project.
However, he noted that the flowing of the river had not yet caused any destruction to the road so far.
Mr Charlie said to speed up the process; the contractor would increase machinery such as graders and truck tippers to cover-up for lost time.
The project currently stands at 25 per cent complete, and the contractor has finished the first two kilometres and is in the process to start the next four kilometres.
The contractor was awarded the project in June last year and the expected completion date is October this year.
Ms Makgosa had paid a site visit to get first-hand information on the project and challenges faced by the contractor. Ends
