Permits cause havoc in Tutume
15 Apr 2020
Tutume Sub-district council chairperson, Mr Anthony Chibane has raised a concern over councillors who transport people crowded in vehicles to Tutume to seek travelling permits.
Mr Chibane cautioned councillors against the practice, saying it could defeat government efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
He noted he had realised that issuing of permits was a challenge because people ended up crowding in one area.
Mr Chibane said people had developed many stories in a bid to acquire travelling permits to leave their homes.
The Tutume Sub-district council chairperson said they were working hard to sensitise people on the importance of lockdown and adhering to the (COVID-19) regulations.
He however expressed satisfaction that in many of their localities people were staying in their homes to contain the spread of the pandemic. END
