Truck driver and assistant from Zambia discharged

15 Apr 2020

A Zambian truck driver and his assistant, who came to Botswana 14 days ago and were placed under isolation, have been cleared of coronavirus and discharged.

Tutume District Health Management Team head, Dr Irvan Kgetse said the two were placed on isolation as a preventative measure.

He said their test results came negative and had since been discharged and asked to leave the country.

Meanwhile, he said the five nationals of the Democratic Republic of Congo who were moved from the Dukwi Refugee Camp and quarantined at Shumba Lodge in Tutume had shown no symptoms of COVID-19.

However, he said they were still monitoring them and that their blood samples had been taken for testing.

In addition, Dr Kgetse noted that they had quarantined 17 other Batswana at Shumba Lodge, adding that five of them were awaiting test results. He emphasised that so far in Tutume District no one had tested positive for COVID-19. ends
