Mabesekwa Headman of Records, Mr Tshwaro Masisi is happy with the positive response by his subjects in the fight against COVID-19.

Mr Masisi said in an interview on April 11that the people of Mabesekwa had acted in accordance with the measures aimed at fighting the novel coronavirus, which had been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in recent past.

“Right from the beginning, the people of Mabesekwa have taken it upon themselves to observe measures aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus.

You may have realised that at the entrance of almost every household there is a mixture of clean water and soap for the washing of the hands.

Our people have truly embraced advice from the Ministry of Health and Wellness,” he said.

Failure to observe to the COVID-19 regulations, he warned could only spell doom considering the speed with, which coronavirus was able to spread in a short time.

He also commended the village first response COVID-19 team for its proactiveness in spreading important information with regard to the disease to the resident.

On the other hand, Ms Tebogo Kebotse, an entrepreneur in the village of Mabesekwa relayed to BOPA how the coronavirus scare had forced her close certain aspects of her business.

“I am only left with a general dealer after closing the bar as well as a second hand clothing shop. Even profit margins from the general dealer have dropped drastically,” she said adding however that government’s bailout programme remained her only hope.

That being the case, Ms Kebotse was happy that the people of Mabesekwa were complying with all aspects of the social distancing policy.

Her sentiments were shared by Mr Ditsame Moshabi who operates Easy Terms tuck-shop in the village.

Mr Moshabi also commended government for coming up with the six months state emergency to wage war on COVID-19.

Mr Gabolekwe Selei was also happy that as per the instruction from government, Water Utilities Corporation had opened a total of four standpipes that were closed due to failure to pay water bills by owners. Ends
