The acting chief medical officer at Bobonong Primary Hospital, Dr Jean Lundemba, is has decried the increasing cases of malaria in Bobirwa region. 

Dr Lundemba  said in an interview that the hospital recorded a total of 94 cases of malaria since February 14 until April 9.

When the disease broke out in February, the hospital registered four cases before the cases escalated to 40 in March. By April 9, the hospital registered  54 cases in only nine days into the month.

However, the acting medical officer was concerned at the shortage of bedding in general wards where malaria patients were put together with others of various ailments. Bobonong Primary Hospital has a carrying capacity of only 20 beds. 

Dr Lundemba they had accommodated some patients at a conference room and these hailed from various villages in Bobonong constituency. 

The medical doctor cleared that the malaria patients were kept for four days before being discharged and then followed constantly on their recovery paths. 

Consequently, Dr Lundemba appealed to the people to use mosquito nets, open their houses to officers spraying mosquito repellants as well as using other available medically approved repellants available to their use. Ends
