Pensioners Ipelegeng employees flood post office

Old age pensioners and Ipelegeng employees caused commotion at BotswanaPost offices in Tutume where they received their monthly payments.
Tutume Sub-district deputy district commissioner, Ms Utlwanang Kerekang, said people came in large numbers for their dues in the early hours of Tuesday.
She said the district leadership urged the residents to wait for BotswanaPost to contact them instead of them visiting the post office.
Ms Kerekang pointed out that many of them did not adhere to the communication and those that were assisted at their respective wards across many villages of the sub-district also decided to come to the main village centre for shopping.
This, she noted, also led to the commotion more so that where there was congestion, people were also not adhering to social distancing.
Ms Kerekang said they managed to contain the situation by addressing the masses that were there and many took heed and went back to utilise services within their wards.
Furthermore, she stated that they were working tirelessly to always send out awareness messages, adding that they had also arranged that they make pamphlets to give to the people across the sub-district through-out this period. ENDS
