Mahalapye hospital on alert
08 Apr 2020
Mahalapye District Hospital, like other hospitals, has stepped up measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Mahalapye District Health Management Team (DHMT) public relations officer, Ms Pauline Bontle said there was mandatory screening for those accessing services at the hospital to identify and prevent the possible spread of the disease.
She said the hospital allowed two visitors per patient and the visitors were required to register with the ward the patient was admitted at.
Visitors whose names did not appear in the visitors’ register books, she said, would not be allowed to see patients.
She said sanitisers had been availed in addition to hand washing services placed at strategic places around the premises for staff and clients.
She said the same was extended to all the clinics and health posts in the district.
Ms Bontle encouraged regular use of clean water and soap to keep the hands clean at all times and appealed to the community to work with them and report any acts that could compromise efforts to fight COVID-19.
She said those with flu like symptoms should call Emergency Medical Services for assistance at 997, 768 163 80 or the hospital at 471 8000 instead of visiting health facilities. Ends
