Kasane tests seven for COVID-19

Seven quarantined people, who showed flu-like symptoms, have been tested for COVID-19 in Kasane.

Dr Amos Mukadi of Kasane Primary Hospital said in an interview that the samples were sent to the main laboratory in Gaborone.

“We only test those who show flu-like symptoms, especially those who are from or had passed through high risk countries like South Africa’” he added.

He said Kasane had quarintuined 152 citizens and residents in several hotels.

Meanwhile, Kasane police's Superintendent James Maabong said all the facilities were manned with police officers and members of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF).

He explained that the security at these facilities will remain tight to avoid unnecessary movements, which could result in the possible spread of corona virus.

Superintendent Maabong said the police will not allow unnecessary movements and advised that people must stay at home during the 28 days of extreme social distancing. Ends
