A total of 20 people entered Botswana at Mamuno border post last week, despite restricted movements. 
 
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship deputy officer in charge at the border post, Ms Ontitile Marumoloa said these were sent to quarantine facilities as a precautionary measure to curb the possible spread of corona virus. Previously, a total of 43 people returning from Namibia through the same border post were quarantined. 

Meanwhile, Charleshill Police Station Ccommander, Superintendent Lefa Kareng stated that people have been complying with the set regulations since  commencement of the country’s state of public emergency. 

He encouraged the public to continue practicing extreme social distancing and other precautionary measures as prescribed by health officials. 

Supt Kareng also cautioned hitchhikers that everyone who would be caught boarding cross border trucks would be quarantined for a period of 14 days. 

He stated that although issues of illegal immigrants were uncommon in his area, they were recently surprised by eight cases of illegal immigrants. 

Of these illegal immigrants, six were Zimbabweans and had been repatriated while two were from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and efforts to repatriate them  still ongoing. ends
