04 Apr 2020
Emergency operations centres at national, district and community levels are to be set up to monitor the COVID-19 situation, says Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Kabo Morwaeng.
Briefing the media on COVID-19 situation, Mr Morwaeng indicated that government intended to release all employees who were members of recognised trade unions, selected to participate in COVID-19 emergency response to allow them to meaningfully participate and contribute to this critical call.
Government recognised contributions made by trade unions since outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.
Mr Morwaeng urged trade unions to continue demonstrating true leadership to the whole nation, adding that government continued to appreciate their contribution.
He expressed wish that trade unions, as employers, would support government by not laying off employees during this period of COVID-19 pandemic.
He said he had met with the trade unions leadership and discussed working relations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Morwaeng also urged the public to fully cooperate and adhere to precautions in order to fight the pandemic. Ends
