Botswana has capacity

Botswana is well resourced to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, says Ministry of Health and Wellness public health specialist, Dr Lebapotswe Tlale.
Speaking at the COVID-19 press briefing update in Gaborone on Friday, he said, the country had increased the capacity of isolation centres to manage a lot of people in case there could be more cases of COVID-19.
He said human resource capacity had also been increased. “We have hired nurses, doctors, environmental health specialists, lab technicians to increase capacity of human resource,” he said.
Dr Tlale noted that operation hours of laboratories had also been adjusted to 24 hours countrywide.
He said the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in South Africa had also increased laboratories capacities to include Pretoria and Cape Town. The country had been using Johannesburg only. Ends
