Orange donates over P5 million to COVID-19 fight

Orange Botswana has donated over P5 million to support government’s strategy in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a donation ceremony in Gaborone, Orange Botswana board chairperson, Mr Satar Dada said the company was happy to help government in managing the spread and impact of coronavirus in Botswana.
“We are, as a citizen company, committed to supporting government and the community in facing this challenge. The donation aims to support immediate and long-term relief in vulnerable communities,” Mr Dada said.
The company also provided support to the healthcare sector by donating SIM cards with free unlimited calls to health workers on the frontline as well as free SMS broadcast to the Ministry of Health and Wellness for sensitisation messages to the population.
Orange users would also call the Ministry of Health and Wellness toll free number to access information related to COVID-19 as well as use Orange Money platform to collect funds to help government in the prevention of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Seed of Gratitude and ABM have donated P200 000 and P100 000 respectively towards the COVID-19 Relief Fund in order to help manage the impact of the Coronavirus.
On the other hand, The Whizz, under Maruping Limited, donated 300 hospital sheets and pillow cases, all in effort to help government as the coronavirus (COVID 19) continued to rapidly spread around the globe, causing unprecedented impact. Ends
