Police remain watchful to ensure compliance amid COVID-19

Moshupa station commander superintendent David Ramoseki says the police were working round the clock to ensure compliance to set out precautionary measures.

He told BOPA in an interview on Saturday that police would remain watchful to ensure prescribed prevention measures against COVID-19  were observed.

Government in line with Public Health Act of 2013 recently implemented some measures to ensure safety of citizenry to avoid possible spread of COVID 19.

In light of COVID 19, the government suspended public gatherings of more than 100 people imposed for 30 days according to a government press release published on March 16.

Such public domains include; religious activities, sporting events, conferences, wedding celebrations, night clubs/bars, music concerts, parties and gymnasia. 

Superintendent Ramoseki advised people to comply with set guidelines by the government amid COVID 19 fears. 

In the policing area he said they had not recorded any violation of prescribed guidelines, adding that from experience people observed health instructions.

He said it was imperative to cooperate with health officials to ensure utmost safety of all in the wake of COVID 19. 

All individuals coming from high risk countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, Iran, USA, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and India, will not be allowed entry, according to the press release.

Batswana and residents returning from high risk countries will be subjected to a mandatory 14 days quarantine as per protocol. 

Supt Ramoseki warned that disobeying the law was an offence punishable by law, adding that the law would take its course for those fail to comply with set out measures citing crossing the border at un-gazetted points to dodge health officials. Ends
