President of Francistown Land Tribunal, Mr Bannister Mokakangwe says it is vital for public sectors to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery because of outcry of poor customer services.

Speaking during Tati Land board Awards ceremony recently in Francistown, he said because of the need for customer oriented focus which coincided with tightening government budgets, providing value for money, workforce transformation and innovation was essential in public sector service delivery

Furthermore, he said the solution was to develop customer centric models that drew inspiration from the relative success which put customer at the heart of service design and delivery.

Mr Mokakangwe noted that since land was a valuable asset to every Motswana, clients become deeply affected by the competence and moral values of land board therefore it was important for civil servants to ensure that their excellence in service delivery was exemplified not only by professional competence but also by the moral and open manner of business conduct.

He urged civil servants to discipline themselves by doing what was important, saying land board employees were perceived corrupt which might make them to be frustrated and demotivated.

Mr Mokakangwe called on the government and other stakeholders to play their roles well in addressing several challenges that confront best land management such as land servicing.

For his part, Chairman of Tati Land board, Mr Godfrey Habana said land administration was plagued by a series of operational and social problems like population growth and resultant growth in demand for land.

He said the increasing complexity of land demand required team work from both the stakeholders and the employees to find innovative ways which could ensure that the most valuable asset was prudently managed.

Mr Habana said that the Tati Land Board had intensified stakeholder collaboration with dikgosi with whom they agreed to combat all issues within the district. He said for the 2019/20 financial year, they managed to allocate 420/400 plots which constitutes of 124 Residential and 296 ploughing fields to Batswana.

Mr Habana indicated that 252 plots for both arable and business would be advertised before end of this month.

He said the Tati Land Board continued to work timelessly to complete the National Land registration and that currently the result was at 64 per cent.

Mr Habana therefore urged staff to continue working hard to deliver services to the people of North East District. On corporate social responsibility, Mr Habana said land Board had painted two houses for two disadvantaged people at Mapoka and Ditladi.

He urged those who did not receive awards to work hard and aim to win awards next year, adding that those who received awards should know that this was due to the spirit of teamwork that was prevailing among workers. Ends
