Mazda Maun Drivers Club helps needy

16 Mar 2020

North West assistant district commissioner, Mr Ramogaupi Gaborekwe has commended Maun Mazda Drivers Club for helping an underprivileged man of Komana near Maun.

Mr Gaborekwe applauded the club during a donation of a bed, bed linen and other household items to one Mr Paul Katukwii over the weekend.

He noted that government valued any help from the private sector and individuals, adding that Mazda Maun Drivers Club sacrificed their monies and efforts to help a member of the society although it was expensive to maintain their vehicles among other commitments.

Mr Gaborekwe also appreciated Komana residents for their unity in supporting the beneficiary during his time of receiving the gifts.

Sehithwa Service Centre coordinator, Mr Obakwe Tsholofelo also appreciated Mazda Maun Drivers Club for seeing it befitting to assist the beneficiary and restoring his dignity.

He said the North West District Council welcomed partnerships from all spheres since the government alone could not manage to provide for all members of the society.

Mazda Maun Drivers Club representative, Mr Fikile Gaotlhobogwe observed that the club was registered as a society in 2017, being the first in the country, but currently there were about five clubs countrywide.

Mr Gaotlhobogwe said the club wanted to give back to the community, hence the donation.

He said Mr Katukwii was identified through the help of the Social and Community Development office.

In his remarks, Mr Katukwii said he was grateful for the donation from the Mazda Maun Drivers Club as well as those from fellow villagers.

Komana Village Development Committee also donated P500 to the beneficiary. Ends
