Employee recognition key

15 Mar 2020

Employee recognition is a key tool to performance improvement, Botswana National Productivity Northern Regional director Mr Tshenolo Mapitse has said.

Mr Mapitse was speaking at Maun Administration Authority (MAA) staff awards ceremony in Maun on Friday.

He said MAA management was recognising performance and innovation of its staff through awards, a motivation for the staff to keep excelling.

Mr Mapitse observed that Botswana was ranked position 91 out of 141 economies in the World Economic Forum competitiveness report and position four in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He said the report showed that Botswana had a long way to go in improving its service delivery and economy.

Mr Mapitse said poor rankings would lead to loss of investors and therefore Botswana should work hard to improve them.

He said the awards should renew the commitment of the recipients to deliver the mandate and vision of their organisation.

MAA senior assistant council secretary, Ms Mogomotsi Seemule said the awards, which were on their fourth year, were meant to celebrate those who excelled in the public service delivery.

Ms Seemule said the awardees would further compete at district and national level.

She observed that the right attitude led to positive results, motivating the recipients to maintain their good work.

The MAA council chairperson, Mr Vapaune Moreti in his remarks said the recipients would assist the council to achieve its goal of being action-oriented.

Mr Moreti said commitment and team work were key to attaining such.

He therefore commended the recipients for their dedication to work. Ends
