Upgrading of hospital not done
11 Mar 2020
The upgrading of Tsabong Primary Hospital, which was proposed for implementation during 2018/2019 financial year, could not go through due to budgetary ceiling constraints.
This was said by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Lemogang Kwape in response to a parliamentary question on March 10.
Dr Kwape said upgrading of the hospital was prioritised in the NDP 11, but due to funds unavailability the upgrading was not carried out and the ministry would consider the upgrading of the hospital in the future, funds permitting.
In addition, he said Middlepits and Werda clinics with maternity wings were prioritised for implementation during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 financial years for construction to level one primary hospitals.
Both projects, he said, were not implemented due to budgetary constraints and the ministry would construct the hospitals in the future, funds permitting.
Kgalagadi South legislator, Mr Sam Brooks had asked the minister when he would upgrade the Tsabong Primary Hospital, which was proposed for the financial year 2019/20 as well as the Middlepits and Werda clinics with maternity wings to 24 hour polyclinics as proposed in the 2017/2018 financial year.ENDS
