Department of Information Technology gives to Ghanzi community

Following a week-long retreat in Ghanzi recently, staff of Department of Information Technology under the Ministry of Transport and Communications decided to extend a helping hand to Ghanzi community.

The staff donated three computers, a TV set and stationary to Morama Day Care Centre as well as P1 000. They also spent a day refurbishing the toilet at the centre, maintaining the playground and painting the school premises.

Handing the donation, director of Department of Information Technology, Ms Kitso Dithokwa told the school management their staff in Ghanzi would be responsible for traing teachers on how to operate computers.

She aid their partners, Botswana Telecommunication Corporation had pledged to donate a printer to the school

For his part, Kgosi Esau Molehele of Morama ward said since the school opened its doors in 2006, it had been experiencing shortage of resources.

He said their dream was to see the school expanding and teachers being capacitated.

Kgosi Molehele and Morama ward Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Joseph Ndaba were both hopeful that the Information Technology equipment donated would help improve the pupils’ academic excellence. ENDS
