Police donate to children admitted at Bamalete

04 Mar 2020

Ramotswa based police officers have donated educational materials to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital (BLH) paediatric ward.

When handing over the donation on Tuesday, Assistant Superintendent Tlammana Goje of Ramotswa Police Station said children admitted at the hospital needed to be motivated in order to have positive energy.

He said the educational toys would help the children to be entertained and learn during their stay at the hospital.

Assistant Superintendent Goje said the donation was a gift of love to the children’s ward after the police officers realised the need to motivate and give them hope.

He said as the police, their work was not only limited to apprehending criminals and protecting property.

He said as part of the community, the police took part in resolving some of the challenges faced by the community.

BLH acting hospital superintendent Dr Pierrot Mwanza said BLH admitted children from in and outside South East District.

He said although currently there were no children admitted, the donations would always be of value to the children at the hospital.

Dr Mwanza said the donations showed that the police and the hospital were working together to serve the same community in different areas.

Further, he said their relationship with the police went beyond the donations, as they met almost on a daily basis due to the nature of their work.

“Sometimes we call the police when we have issues of security here, were are in constant communication,” Dr Mwanza said.

A senior nursing officer at the hospital, Ms Matlhodi Basuhi said the donations were valuable to the children as they would continue to learn while admitted at the hospital.

She said the donations came at the right time as the hospital was in dire need of educational materials and toys for children they admitted. ENDS
