Junction access roads not in plan

04 Mar 2020

Nkange-Changate and Maitengwe junction as well as Dagwi access roads were never planned to be constructed along with the project of resealing the Tutume-Maitengwe road.

Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulaganyo Segokgo, said in response to a question in Parliament on Monday that the resealing of Tutume-Maitengwe road was part of his ministry’s road maintenance programme, as such, the upgrading of access roads to a bitumen standard could not be included in a maintenance project.

He said the access road policy applied only to development project, but construction of these two roads was not included in the Economic Stimulus Programme. Mr Segokgo noted that the construction of the two access roads would be considered for inclusion in future along with other projects.

Nkange legislator, Dr Never Tshabang had asked the minister if he was aware that the Nkange-Changate and Maitengwe junction as well as Dagwi roads had been removed as access roads from the resealing of the Tutume-Maitengwe road project. ENDS
