BoB obtains clean audit reports

04 Mar 2020

Parliament has been informed that Bank of Botswana (BoB) has consistently obtained clean audit reports issued by independent external auditors. Answering a question in Parliament on  Tuesday, finance and economic development minister, Dr Thapelo Matsheka, said the audit reports included annual financial year end audits for the years 2007 to 2018.

As for the year 2019, Dr Matsheka said the audit was ongoing and in consistent with the bank’s statutory requirements, the audit report would be presented to the audit and risk committee and the board at their respective meetings on March 26 and 27 this year.

Furthermore, Dr Matsheka said through a management letter, the independent external auditors occasionally raised queries of a house keeping nature as part of value additions to the continuous improvement programme for the Bank’s operations, control environment and risk management processes. “None of the issues is pending,” he said.

Dr Matsheka was responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Palapye, Mr Onneetse Ramogapi who had asked the minister if there was any audit query during Bank of Botswana audit from the year 2007 to date.

Mr Ramogapi had also asked the minister to state the type of audit query if there was any and explain as to whether such a query was addressed or still pending. ENDS
