Letlhakeng Sub-district continues to experience high numbers of school drop-outs with 19 learners at primary schools and 1 at secondary school having left school during the third term of 2019.
When addressing the Letlhakeng Sub-Council session on Monday, the sub-council chairperson Mr Meshack Tshenyego observed that more boys dropped out of school than girls and most of them left school with no communication from parents.
He said during the first term a partnership between Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Basic Education and Orange Botswana saw the latter donating tablets and other IT consumables and gadgets to Mantshwabisi and Kaudwane primary schools.
Councilor Tshenyego further said each school received a package that included 50 tablets and other accessories.
The sub-council chairperson said the donation by Orange Botswana was meant to facilitate IT learning in primary schools that would ensure that sub-district schools are part of the global world, produce tech savvy students and be part of the knowledge-based economy. These gadgets should also make learning interesting and fun for both learners and the teachers to improve our school quality pass,” said Mr Tshenyego. ENDS
