Mahalapye stormwater drainage master plan complete

Parliament has learnt that Mahalapye stormwater drainage master plan was completed in 2009 at an estimated cost of P495 million.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele told Parliament on February 25 that the project was included in the seventh District Development Plan (DDP 7) but could not be included in the eleventh National Development Plan (NDP 11) due to other competing priorities.
He said the project may still be included in the NDP 11 mid-term review after consultation with the district stakeholders.
Mahalapye West Member of Parliament, Mr David Tshere had asked the minister to update Parliament on the development of the Mahalapye stormwater drainage system and to state whether the design and layout had been done. Ends
