Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has told Parliament that Mmadinare operates as a service centre to bring services closer to the citizens.

In response to a question, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele indicated that Section 7 of the Local Government Act 2012, empowered the minister to establish a sub-district, subject to consultations with the respective council and community of the area where such place was situated.

Mr Modukanele explained that Mmadinare was approved a sub-district through Presidential Directive Cab 21 (b) of 2008, in principle and the actual implementation of the programme be on a phased and prioritised basis over NDP 10 and possibly future national development plans.

Mmadinare MP, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi had asked if there were plans to develop Mmadinare into a sub-district and bring rural administration centre services to the village.  Ends
