Botswana’s export to South Africa, Thatayaone “TT” Ditlhokwe has hailed his new team, Supersport United, for its hospitality.
The Pretoria-based Ditlhokwe revealed in an interview recently that he had adjusted well at his new team, adding that Supersport United players were supportive.
“There is that family bond, support, and all in all it is a well structured team though it is always a challenge to move from one team to the other, but I am happy I managed to settle very well,” he said.
He revealed that Supersport United scouts identified him during the COSAFA 2019 tournament in Durban.
Not won over by his COSAFA performance, Supersport started to follow and monitor his play at Township Rollers and during national team call-ups.
Ditlhokwe said Supersport officials watched him during Popa’s CAF Champions League game against Tanzanian side, Yanga, and during the national team game against Egypt.
“After thorough assessment they then invited me to join them, and I must hasten to thank God for the guidance. When I moved from Nico United to Gaborone United my aim was to work hard and use all the opportunities accorded me by all teams I have played for to move to the next level,” he said.
When joining Township Rollers the ultimate goal was to listen, learn and to work hard. He said he was cognisant of the fact that those were the only recipe that would help him to achieve his goals.
“There is no growth where there is no challenge, and you cannot stay in the comfort zone, so I am here with Supersport for I have accepted the challenge. I will work hard because you never know what the future is holding for you,” he said.
Furthermore, he said as a young player he grew up watching Mogogi Gabonamong and Diphetogo Selolwane, adding that as legends they had created a platform for them and influenced them to believe in themselves that they could play and be successful in South Africa and beyond.
“They have created a platform for us, even here they always ask me about them, they view the two players as great people, something that I am looking forward to repeat to ensure the upcoming generation can also believe that it is possible,” he said. ends
