24 Feb 2020

The last 16 teams to participate in the mouthwatering round of the flagship Orange FA cup have been confirmed.

At least 11 teams booked a place in the last 16 draw across the country in different matches on Saturday while the remaining five spots were filled on February 23.

The draw, which is to be conducted before the end of this week, will see the last 16 matches played on the weekend of March 14 and 15

In an exciting double header played at Molepolole Sports Complex on Sunday, BDF XI squeaked through to the next round after narrowly scalping Security Systems 6-5 after a sudden death penalty kick.

The two teams had played to a 1-1 draw after the regulated 90 minutes of playtime.

The last match of the day pitted Gaborone United against Black Forest. Magoleng’s defensive limitations were exposed as the Money Machine inched past through a comfortable 2-0victory.

At the Sua Flamingoes grounds Molepolole City Stars paid a heavy price against the homeside for a last minute concentration lapse. With 10 minutes remaining, Sua Flamingoes hit the back of the net to march to the next round of the cup.

The Sowa based side’s determination will be tested in the next round as they come across as a surprise wild card this seasons.

At the Mogoditshane Fighters ground, Matebejane failed to utilise home ground advantage and let the visiting Calendar Stars emerge 2-0 victorious.

Police XI new signee and veteran striker, Moemoedi Moatlhaping and former Extension Gunners marksman, Ogomoditse Sitang were on target as the Jungle Kings held on to a 2-1 victory against Eleven Angels at the Francistown City Council Stadium.

Miscellaneous, Extension Gunners and Molepolole City Stars enjured defeat at the expense of low tier teams while Security Systems, who joined the three to bite the dust, faced premiership opponents in BDF XI. ends
