Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Karabo Gare says Mmadinare internal roads and street lights project was not included in National Development Plan (NDP) 8 and District Development Plan (DDP) 5 as reflected in the Thumbnail sketches.

Mr Gare, who was answering a question in Parliament on behalf of Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said the focus then was on construction of village infrastructure projects at the headquarters of the sub-district in the Central District.

“An opportunity will arise for Mmadinare village internal roads and streetlights to be considered either in the next plans or mid-term review,” said Mr Gare.

He said the social and economic value of the livelihoods of the people of Mmadinare during and after construction included job opportunities, ease of movement of traffic and pedestrians as well as safety and security of the community.

Member of Parliament for Mmadinare, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi wanted the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to give updates of Mmadinare internal roads and street lights project.

He also wanted the minister to state if he was aware that the project was included in National Development Plan (NPD) 8 and District Development Plan (DDP) 5, and if so; when would the project be included back in the planning process, and what social and economic value developing internal roads, street lights and storm water drainage could bring to the livelihood of the people of Mmadinare during and after construction.
