 The Mascom Top 8 local organising committee (LOC) has released nominees for season 9 best athletes’ awards ahead of the final, which will be played on March 7 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.

Speaking during a media conference to announce integration of the season 9 final enhancements, the chairperson of the LOC, Modisenyane Moreo said the adjudication of nominations had been done by the referees’ commission and an appointed body.

He noted that the awards ceremony for the best referee, assistant referee and best player categories as well as the medals for the winning team would be held immediately after the final for the very first time, to give the fans a chance to partake in the ceremony.

Moreo also noted that the decision to select nominees before the tournament was based on the fact that 95% of the games had already been played.

Meanwhile, Mascom chief marketing officer, Shimboy Kgosiemang announced that the cash prize for season 9 winning team would be P1.4 million.

He further announced that Mascom would do activations in the North East villages of Masunga, Tutume, as well as the City of Francistown to boost  the tournament’s support and visibility, adding that they would donate football equipment to primary schools as part of the organisation’s corporate social investment.

Kgosiemang said they anticipated a full house for the final, which would start at 3pm, noting that all arrangements had been made to ensure that the event was a success.

 

Other enhancements, he said, were the beefing up of security at the venue, which would include 200 private security personnel and 40 police officers. ENDS
