Some of the former Botswana Railways employees are not happy with how the organisation is operated and managed.
Giving evidence before the board of inquiry, one of the former employees, Mr Leviet Ntwaagae said the welfare of the employees was not taken care off. He further said there was ‘no knowledgeable management to look after employees' welfare ’.
Mr Ntwaagae, who is an accredited railway trainee also said he advised BR management to develop proper subjects or modules that would be accredited, adding that he had also recommended the introduction of the latest training modules on safety management so that BR employees could be equipped on safety.
He further said there were no operational rules at BR and that there was no transparency in the operations of the organisation, saying there were instances where some posts were not advertised to hire staff members and that the posts would later be filled.
Another former employee Mr Lux Masule also stressed the need to properly train BR employees more especially instructors and assessors.
Mr Masule said teaching models should change at BR more especially that they had computerised locomotives. He further said BR needed change and its management had to be changed.
