Selebi Phikwe hospital is an accredited hospital that offers admirable health services despite experiencing certain shortages, says Minister of Health and Wellness.

Dr Lemogang Kwape said Selebi Phikwe District Health Management Team had a total of seven ambulances with only three of those ambulances currently operational while four were off the road. Dr Kwape said two of the ambulances off the road were booked for service while one had been sent for engine repair at CTO, adding that the other ambulance was involved in a road traffic accident and was still at CTO Gaborone for repairs.

He noted that the ministry was experiencing shortage of ambulances of which a large number were boarded.

Furthermore, he noted that the ministry had a budget to procure 120 ambulances of which Selebi Phikwe DHMT would benefit from in the 2020/2021 financial year.

Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had requested the minister to state the number of ambulances in use at Selebi Phikwe DHMT and their state as well as the ministry’s intent to remedy the situation.ENDS
