17 Feb 2020

Bobirwa Sub-council members have been informed that several road projects were in progress and at different stages of completion.

Speaking during a sub council session on February 17, chairperson Mr Christopher Motsholapheko detailed that dry grading and gravelling of the 54km stretch from Motlhabaneng turn-off to Point Drift was ongoing and fully compliant with environmental impact assessment.

The over P4 million project, awarded in May 2019 is at 58 per cent, is expected to be completed in May.

Mr Motsholapheko said the 56km Bobonong/Tsetsebjwe Road was being fog-sprayed and marked.

The P9.6 million project is expected to be completed in April 1.

Currently sitting at 63 per cent, the project was ahead of schedule, said Mr Mostholapheko.

Councillors heard that fog spraying and marking of the 72km Sefhophe-Zanzibar Road at the contract sum of P12 million was completed ahead of time and had been handed over.

The project, he said, was under defects liability period until November 12.

Another road refurbishment project is the resealing and road marking of the 55km Serule- Selebi Phikwe Road which commenced in December last year. Completion is scheduled for this month.

Mr Motsholapheko informed councillors that block paving of Moletemane access road had not yet started despite the site handover having been done last June.

“The project was delayed pending approval of environmental management plan and design plan,” he said adding that both have sine been approved. The project was awarded at a contract sum of P42 million.ENDs
