Police in search of robbers
12 Feb 2020
Police have launched a manhunt for 10 suspected armed robbers in two different incidents reported at Molepolole and Lentsweletau villages between Friday and Monday.
According to Molepolole Police Station commander, Superintendent Motlhaba Ramaabywa, some business woman aged 41 of Lentsweletau was mugged cash amounting to P16 000.
Supt Ramaabywa said in an interview that the four suspected robbers allegedly forced their way into the woman’s house and demanded cash, which they found and made away with.
They are also reported to have taken a shotgun, which they apparently found in one of the woman’s bedrooms while searching the house.
In the process, the woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local health facility, where she was treated and released.
In another incident, Supt Ramaabywa said three 48kg gas cylinders were also stolen at Magokotswane Primary School in Molepolole in the early morning of Monday.
Thus, he appealed to the public to help them in finding the suspects involved in the incident, who also forced their way into the school premises armed with objects which appeared to be an axe and crowbar to cut chains where cylinders were kept.
Meanwhile, Supt Ramaabywa expressed concern about the increasing break-ins in most of the local schools where valuables were constantly being stolen, especially during the beginning of the year where financial transactions were made.
He thus urged the public to be cautious at all times. ENDS
